Admissions Requirements by Degree Level
Bachelor's Degrees
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Admissions decisions are based on a holistic review that considers academic background, ministry experience, personal qualifications, and the applicant's calling to ministry. We seek to make theological education accessible to all who are called to serve.
Graduate Certificates
- Bachelor's degree from any recognized institution (religious or non-religious), OR equivalent preparation demonstrated through:
- Significant ministry experience
- Professional credentials or certifications in ministry-related fields
- Prior learning assessment demonstrating theological knowledge
- Portfolio evaluation showing ministry competency and theological understanding
- Alternative educational pathways with documented theological training
- All applicants must demonstrate readiness for graduate-level theological study through academic transcripts (if applicable), ministry experience documentation, letters of recommendation (2-3 letters from academic or ministry supervisors), personal statement, and interview or assessment (if needed).
- Statement of purpose (2-3 pages) explaining interest in theological foundations, goals for graduate study, and how the certificate will support future ministry or academic pursuits.
- Graduate Certificate in Foundational Theological Studies:This certificate is designed for students with non-religious bachelor's degrees who need foundational theological education before entering Master's programs. Students with religious bachelor's degrees may also apply to strengthen their theological foundations. All certificate credits (18 credits) may apply toward Master's or Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry programs at Noeton International Christian University, subject to program requirements and course equivalency, provided the student earned a grade of "B" or better (3.0 GPA) in each certificate course. Certificate credits remain valid for transfer to master's programs for 7 years from the date of certificate completion. This makes the certificate an ideal pathway for students seeking to transition into graduate theological education. Note: Transfer of certificate credits to other institutions depends on the policies of the receiving institution. Students should verify transfer credit policies with receiving institutions before enrolling. See the Accreditation Catalog for the full certificate structure.

Doctoral Degrees
Internal pathway from Noeton master's programs: Graduates of Noeton master's programs may apply up to 24 credits (40% of a typical 60-credit Ph.D. curriculum) toward a Noeton Ph.D., when courses align; some doctoral programs require 66 credits—see the Accreditation Catalog for your program's total credits and residency rules. Master's (MTH) and doctoral (DPH) course alignment is summarized in Course Equivalency Mapping (sign in). Normally a grade of B or better (3.0) is required in each course applied toward the doctorate.
Catalog pathways: Doctoral admission follows the Accreditation Catalog: Pathway 1 — post-master's (standard entry, typically 60–66 doctoral credits) and, for exceptional applicants only, Pathway 2 — post-bachelor's (extended program, about 90 credits including foundational work). This page summarizes; the catalog is authoritative for credit totals and pathway criteria.
- Pathway 1 (typical): Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in a theological field, or equivalent master's preparation from a recognized institution—or equivalent preparation shown through:
- Advanced ministry experience (often 10+ years) with significant leadership responsibility
- Professional credentials or certifications in ministry-related fields
- Prior learning assessment demonstrating advanced theological knowledge
- Portfolio evaluation showing advanced ministry competency and theological depth
- Other documented advanced theological formation acceptable to admissions
- Pathway 2 (select): Exceptional candidates with a strong bachelor's in theology, biblical studies, ministry, or a closely related field may be admitted to an extended doctoral program per the catalog (higher GPA expectation and additional foundational coursework). Ask admissions whether this pathway fits you.
- GPA: Normally 3.0 (4.0 scale) in master's-level work for Pathway 1, or 3.5 in bachelor's-level work for Pathway 2. The committee may accept equivalent evidence of academic readiness (e.g., graduate coursework, publications, rigorous ministry-based projects) when a GPA alone does not tell the full story.
- Application materials (combine as your situation allows; admissions will confirm what you need): official transcripts when applicable; ministry or leadership documentation; three letters of recommendation (typically at least one academic or scholarly reference and at least one ministry reference); statement of purpose (about 3–5 pages: research interests, doctoral goals, proposed area of study, and how the degree supports ministry, scholarship, or teaching); preliminary research interest statement (about 1–2 pages); writing samples or research writing as requested (the catalog highlights writing that shows research ability); interview or competency assessment if needed.
- Admissions uses a holistic review—academic background, ministry fruitfulness, research potential, character, and sense of calling—not a single metric. We aim to keep theological education accessible to those called to advanced ministry and scholarship.
Application Process
Application → account → program payment → orientation → records and Learn

The application fee is due at submission. After admission (including conditional admission), remit program charges through Pay or through another payment arrangement approved in writing by the University. Access to the learning platform is granted when enrollment and applicable payment have been confirmed.
Orientation
Prior to the start of coursework, complete online orientation. Orientation addresses the learning environment, institutional policies, and required follow-up steps.

Complete any enrollment or records documentation requested by the University. When the account is activated, the Learn portal serves as the program hub. Additional forms or uploads may be assigned in Resources for authenticated users; instructions are provided following payment and in correspondence from the Office of Admissions.
- Documents: Degree-level requirements for transcripts, recommendations, and personal statements appear in the sections above. Applicants offered conditional admission receive written notice of outstanding items and deadlines; satisfaction of those conditions is required for final enrollment clearance.
- Questions: For clarification regarding this sequence, contact the Office of Admissions.
Additional Notes
- Transfer Credits: Up to 40% of prior relevant credits may apply. Transfer credit evaluation is conducted upon receipt of official transcripts. Credits must be from accredited institutions and relevant to the program of study.

- 1005.04 & catalog: Fair consumer disclosures under Florida Statute 1005.04 are published on Policy 1005.04 — Fair Consumer Practices. Official program and credit documentation appears in the Accreditation Catalog.
General Requirements (All Programs)
- Complete the online application and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee (unless a waiver applies). Fee waivers may be available for documented financial need or other hardship; ministry or mission contexts may also be considered. Contact admissions before you submit if you need fee assistance.
- Submit official transcripts from colleges, universities, or seminaries you list on the application, sent directly from the issuing institution or through an approved electronic transcript service when you are applying on the basis of academic credentials. If you are primarily admitted through a ministry-experience, portfolio, or prior-learning pathway, admissions will tell you which academic records are required and when they are due.
- English proficiency is required for everyone, because all instruction is in English. You may demonstrate readiness in more than one way: prior degree or coursework completed in English; a writing sample or admissions writing exercise; standardized tests such as TOEFL iBT (minimum 70) or IELTS (minimum 6.0); or other evidence the admissions office accepts (for example, extensive ministry or professional work conducted in English). Applicants whose first language is not English are often asked for test scores or comparable documentation unless they qualify for a waiver based on English-medium education. If you are unsure what to submit, ask admissions.
